- Stopped By Words
Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. 1 Kings 19:2-4 KJV
Elijah was on a roll! He prophesied a drought and a drought happened. Ravens fed him for months. Afterwards a widowed single parent with one meal left for her and her son miraculously fed all three of them for months. While there the widow’s son became sick and died, but Elijah prayed and God heard him and revived the boy. Then Elijah battled Jezebels prophets and fire came down from heaven and consumed the offering. Then Elijah led the people in killing the false prophets. Then he heard the sound of the abundance of rain. Afterwards he outran the King’s chariot and horses to the city of Jezreel. Homeboy was on a roll! He had MOMENTUM!
Then Jezabel sent a messenger to threaten him that she would kill him tomorrow. He was so afraid of the threat he didn’t realize that she wasn’t serious. Why send a messenger on Monday to say you’ll be sending the soldiers on Tuesday? Just send the soldiers. Elijah did exactly what she wanted him to do. He got out of the place where God wanted him to be.
So where are you supposed to be today? Are you in the place God called you to? Did someone say you were too old to start a new career; too old to complete that degree or start a degree program? Did someone say don’t say anything, it’ll only make things worse. Well don’t let people’s words stop you momentum. Feel free to tell (not ask) them to keep their opinion too themselves, then tell yourself what you need to hear to get you momentum kicking again.

SLC,
ReplyDeleteI saw you as a follower of Christ on my blogs and I thought I'd stop over. Glad that I did.
When you said, "Well don’t let people’s words stop you momentum" you said it all.
I strongly believe that!It is the words of Christ spoken to us through His word that we are to listen to and obey. In GOD there is always movement and momentum. His Word is alive and active and so we must not allow people or situations to stop His movement in our lives.
God bless you. I look forward to stopping back by.
Excellent... I've been gone for a while and now I'm back. I really enjoyed your post. I didn't expect you to take that route with the scripture yet it made so much sense when you did. That's why I love the Word of God SO much it is so applicable in every area of our lives.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
